Refuse to Follow the Hollow

“Is that a celebrity!?” Outright follow them, even if their latest movie didn’t go down well with us. “I am still unsure about my future pursuits, but for now I will choose what my heart works out for me…..( Also my heart: Anyway I will have my sidekick to remain close by, whose choice, not so incidentally mirrors mine).
This is a phenomenon as common as Mr. Trump’s requests to recount the votes polled from Georgia and Pennsylvania. Anyway, the point I am trying to make here is that we can’t hold ourselves back from making influenced decisions sometimes. Its just unavoidable and hence, understandable. But such a phenomenon should not occur daily, that would cost us a bit too dearly.
These examples that I quoted is proportionate to just a star in the entire galaxy. But this star is big in itself to make a whole lot of difference.
We must not blindly follow anything or anyone. Blind following symbolises trust in some cases but boils down to ignorance and thus hoodwinking ( with us at the receiving end) in most of them.
Blind following is not trust, it is the act of confiding our very soul in others. However trustworthy someone is, we must not lose our identity. This very identity is what defines us, and we have to build our identity individually, powered by our own thoughts and own decisions.
Blind belief amounts to denying oneself the opportunity to self-evaluate and self- assess the matter. I’ll put forth a ground reality before you.
Blind following is not a disorder. It’s natural to get entangled in it initially. It may turn into a spider’s web eventually and we must untangle ourselves at the earliest. It is very easy to just follow the crowd. That way, we won’t even get lost and I’ll always have company to feel secured. Agreed. It is convenient. But don’t you feel that we somehow will give up on our thoughts, our individuality, our identity in due course? We will deprive ourselves of the chance to do something different, even if it’s the right thing to do.
Getting influenced is very easy but getting influenced by the right person in the right direction is a task. A task which is cumbersome but once conquered, enriches our persona and in some cases revives it also.
We must give ourselves the chance to think, evaluate, reciprocate with our thoughts, and then reach a decision. We must give ourselves time. After all, great things take time. Time to brainstorm and time to even make an impact. It is imperative that we don’t disengage while participating in this process. It is important to not get derailed.
Now talking about the significance of the word ‘hollow’. It means something that has no substance, even though rock solid from outside. It symbolises people like us pledging faith in something which is superficial in nature, far from the clutches of logic, reality and its essence. It helps me add weight to my stance. I wish to convey that,
We must do what we are capable of, and we must never compromise on our capabilities. We must follow someone only if their thoughts is in line with ours. Don’t follow something which lacks logic, something which might confine us in a hollow space.
Let’s possess and propagate the sense of individuality and even if we follow something, we must with full heart.
We must have our own identity in a crowd. We must follow only with eyes wide open!
And yes, this is our CSR – Chance to maintain Relevance of Substance.
