What is the most expensive thing around you and me? Gucci and Prada put up a tough fight, diamonds and rubies have some real clout in this arena and the trip tariffs of Maldives and Seychelles will take it as a personal offence if I exclude them from this discussion.
Yet these sky-rocketed commodities cost barely money. But the element which I am talking about costs a lot more than money. In fact, it is too dear for human race. Should I unfold the mystery and put an end to this suspense?
No. I guess you all have to stick around for some more time.
Humans are great at many things. A tad too many! But one thing that majority of us lack is accepting our own mistakes. It is a common phenomenon and each of us have crossed the lake in this boat at least once. Definitely it is nothing to be embarrassed about. But we must take note of it and try to prevent it.
Now the bush that I am beating around also wants me to unmask Mr.Suspense.
The most extortionate, rather one costing way more than an arm and leg is……..Ego. Simply, Ego.
A three letter word has the potential to wreak havoc in the lives of those who tame and pet it. Ego has its agencies all over the world, with millions of customers, and transactions taking place every minute between a high-handed braggart and another, who is braggart-in-making.
I am a supreme being. I can make no mistake and anyone challenging me is making a very big mistake. I won’t change myself. I am right always. I am RIGHT.
Do these statements remind you of someone? Some toffee nosed person that flashes in your mind? Well lets keep this topic in the offing otherwise, it will spark a discussion too difficult to stall.
Coming back to topic, such thoughts can occur in anyone’s mind. It is not wrong though, makes us feel important. But this feeling is only momentary and is majorly destructive.
When ego marks its entry, it brings with it destruction, unhappiness and anxiety. Ego first attacks a person’s mental ability to think rightly. It derails our conscience, in turn hindering us from evaluating our actions and overcoming our shortcomings.
It is okay to accept our mistakes. It is not a sin. Sometimes ego casts such a powerful shadow over our mind that we feel that being egoistic amounts to maintaining our self dignity. No. This is a completely wrong idea. Self-dignity empowers us to grow as an individual but its not so identical twin, ego, aims at disgracing another person which does not in any manner contribute to our happiness and wellness. Ego keeps us from growing and progressing in our lives. It nips the bud of growth in the stages of infancy itself. When our persona is poisoned with ego, it ceases to grow and evolve.
Whenever there is a misunderstanding and you feel that an apology will set things straight and will clear your mind of all unwanted things, then just go for it. It does not matter whether it was your mistake or someone else’s. What matters is the calm state of mind that you obtain after shedding your ego and the opportunity that you get to move ahead, scale upwards.
Shedding our ego makes us think good about ourselves and others too, thus eliminating any sort of negativity around us. It brings with it a positive aura which induces a atmosphere worth existing in. The other person may call you a coward because you tried to shed your ego and move ahead. Doesn’t matter. The person calling you a coward will understand your decision, sooner or later.
Meaningful communication is a boon that we humans have. Obviously, without communicating, no task can take place. By taming ego, we are unnecessarily creating communication gaps, granting leisure to unworthy phenomenon such as misconceptions. Why do you want to give tension to yourself? Not required. So come on my friend, exit the agency run by ego and unsubscribe from further updates. That’s it!
Remember, life gives a Thumbs Up! to only those people who give a Thumbs Down to ego. I am repeating. Shedding your ego does not amount to losing your self respect. It means creating space for yourself to embrace escalation by eliminating all unnecessary elements from your lives.
Actually, EGO is not that bad. What, is Sushmita drowsy? No I am not. I mean-
E- Eliminate Ego
G- Gear up to Grow, and
O- Obey EGO.
So promise to Shed Ego and Start EGO.
So lets strive to strike an EGOlogical Balance in the society that we live in and lets do this soon before we encounter something too dear to digest!!
Seems like ego agencies have started loosing customers in great numbers! That is a good development folks! Keep up the good work! I will be hearing from the agencies any day, but I’ll manage until you people keep up to your promise!
Thank you!

Sushmita Dhadd
