‘I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference’- Sounds familiar? All of us might have come across this phrase during our grade 10 English lectures, or atleast CBSE students have in their Literature Reader.I have always wondered that which road did Robert Frost take and what difference has it caused. How did he choose his path and did some factor hold him back or his decision? Are you too a curious hombre like me? Lets hunt for some answers.
It might be difficult for us to know Robert Frost’s thoughts verbatim but lets look at the general perspective. ‘The Road Not Taken’ is indeed very rousing and would not be so today if Robert Frost had held himself back and returned from the woods. He gave himself and his conscience a chance and took the path that he perceived to be right and hence we have the masterpiece with us. I think that is what we all ought to do when it comes to driving ourselves towards our goal.
When we try to try something new, the elevator of our mind opens its doors to overweight ideas. I am implying that we let in a lot more thoughts than what we should actually handle and make our mind a potpourri. Such thoughts hold us back from trying and compel us to withdraw ourselves from the ‘Start Line’. If we get engulfed in such thoughts how will we ever reach the ‘Finish Line’ or rather at least experience the race?
Let me give you my own example. During the Sports day event in my school, I used to always end up in 4th position in the running race. Such was the case since grade 7. But I never gave up thinking that I won’t bag any medal anyways. I always wanted to be a part of the race and experience its thrill and guess what, I finally bagged the Bronze medal before I graduated from Grade 10. Well, this might be something very petty but it does spark a positive chain reaction and that is my whole motive in a nutshell.
We must not hold ourselves back. The only thing we will miss out on is a delightful experience which will yield so much of learning. We must not mistake ourselves to be puppets who have strings attached. It is true that the world is a stage and we all are equal players but we must constantly remind ourselves that the play can be seen as the cream on the cake only if individual players don’t hold themselves back and portray their character in full swing.
We must be ready to break-free of the strings which we have ourselves tangled into, break the shackles free and fulfill our dreams. It is very easy to stand among the crowd and say, ‘I did not participate so the competition was not cut-throat. It is important to unfetter our chains and try to make a mark, our success will make noise. It is essential to come out of the cocoon to spread out our wings and fly.
In a gist, choose a road, don’t abandon the woods. Choose a road. We might or might not end up on the road taken by Robert Frost and it might or might not create all the difference. But, we will live the experience.
We will atleast end up on the ROAD WE HAVE TAKEN.

One Leap will take you to the next level
